Evaluating DMI Study Overview

Evaluating DMI is a study of the Developing Mathematical Ideas (DMI) elementary math professional development program that builds off prior work showing the impact of DMI on teachers' mathematical and pedagogical knowledge. Our study will look at how elementary teacher participation in DMI affects teacher knowledge, teaching practice, and student learning.
Evaluating DMI will work with Grades 1-5 teachers and students in urban and suburban Massachusetts school districts who are using the Investigations in Number, Data, and Space curriculum. Our study will begin to gather evidence of the impact of implementing DMI at scale. It also builds and tests new measures of teacher content knowledge and teaching practice.
